17 years of OpenEyes.
That means 17 years of short films and 17 yerars of open air screening.
And for 17 years we remained true to ourselves: Everything started in 1994. At that time we called ourselves „Mittelhessisches Amateur Filmfest“ (amateur filmfestival of central Hesse). Two years later in 1996 we renamed thed festival in „OpenEyes“. Till 2007 the festival took place at the castle ruin of Amöneburg, than we deciced to move to a new location: the idyllical new botanical garden in Marburg. But now OpenEyes is coming home to the g-werk, Marburg's former gas plant. All screenings will be shown at the g-werk area.
So "true to ourseves" first of all means: showing short films!
This year, as always, about 70 films will be selected by our juries. They split in a documentary and an art-house block, as well as in movies for kids in the afternoon and the traditional open air program in the evening. This year as an invention, there will be films shown made by teenagers with their mobiles as well. Of course the audience this year again awards it´s favourites by voting in the categories "university film" and " non-university film".
We are looking forward to a miscellaneous program on hot july days an mild summer nights.
